War in the Middle East: Trump gives Iran a 48-hour ultimatum

US President Donald Trump considers himself a successful commander in the Iran war. In response to an analysis by “New York Times” author David Sanger, according to which Trump has not yet achieved many of his war goalsTrump defiantly wrote back on his Truth Social platform: “Yes, I did, and weeks earlier than planned!” The USA had “wiped Iran off the map.” The country no longer has any leadership, the navy and air force have been destroyed. It also has “absolutely no defense left.”

Iran wants to make a dealTrump reiterated. “I do not want that! We are weeks ahead of schedule,” the US President continued. He had previously said he was considering scaling back attacks in Iran. The USA is close to achieving its goals in the war that has been going on for three weeks.

Tehran is fighting – more than 100 injured in Israel

However, Iran remains combative. According to the state broadcasting agency Iribnews, the Revolutionary Guards’ secret service said it had analyzed the “enemy’s vulnerable points” and prepared a new wave of attacks “with new strategies and more modern systems”.

In Israel, there were Iranian attacks in the desert city of Arad in the evening, according to emergency services 71 people injured. Ten people among them are in serious condition. Previously, more than 40 people were injured in an Iranian attack in the southern desert city of Dimona. Arad is around 50 kilometers north of Dimona.

For the first time, Tehran also had fired two rockets at the US-British base at Diego Garcia. According to US media, they did not hit the base. The base is around 4,000 kilometers southeast of the Iranian coast – and therefore about twice as far away as the previously officially confirmed range of the Iranian missile arsenal. With such a range, Iranian medium-range missiles could theoretically also reach European cities. (sda/dpa)
