Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his condolences after the killing of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei. Erdogan wrote on Platform X that he regrets Khamenei’s death due to the attacks on Saturday and expresses his condolences to the Iranian people.
Turkey will continue its efforts to end the conflict in the region and return to diplomacy.
Erdogan had already warned on Saturday that the Middle East would become a “ring of fire” if the conflict with Iran was not contained. He also expressed concern about the American-Israeli attacks on Iran and called on all sides to show restraint. (sda/dpa)
