The USA presented its controversial “Peace Council” in Davos not only with a lot of pomp, but also with a large logo. It is strongly reminiscent of the 80-year-old emblem of the United Nations: the earth framed by olive branches.

But there is a crucial difference: While the UN logo shows a world map from the North Pole with all continents visible, the Peace Council logo features one country prominently and oversized in the middle: the USA. The whole thing is decorated in gold, like much of what US President Donald Trump has decorated.
The official emblem of the United Nations is also in gold. On the flag, however, the symbol can be seen in white on a blue background.
«Peace Council? Or advice for US interests?” writes a user on platform X. “The logo speaks for itself.” (sda/dpa)
