US Senator Thom Tillis, like Donald Trump, belongs to the Republican Party – but is currently not at all in line with the US President. He and his colleague were among the first party members to publicly demand that Kristi Noem resign from her position as Secretary of Homeland Security.
Tillis voted for Noem’s confirmation last year. The reason for his rethinking is the handling of the controversial immigration agency ICE in the state of Minnesota. “I think her behavior in Minnesota disqualifies her,” he said.
US President Donald Trump reacted sharply to this approach. After Tillis and Murkowski called for the Homeland Security secretary to be fired, Trump personally attacked both of them, calling them “losers.”
