At least two people died in a forest near Flensburg on Easter Sunday. The “Bild” newspaper first reported. A fire department spokesman confirmed that people have died after an accident in the Satrupholm forest.
According to the “Bild” newspaper, a large tree fell around 11 a.m. A woman and a small child were critically injured. They were flown to the hospital in a rescue helicopter under resuscitation. It initially remained unclear whether the woman and the toddler were the two dead.
According to eyewitnesses, colorful Easter eggs were scattered around the scene of the accident. There was a children’s facility bus nearby.
It was said that the tree probably fell over during the search for Easter eggs. Official warnings of squalls will apply in northern Germany on Sunday. Warning level 2 of 4 has been declared. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), gusts in Flensburg can reach speeds of between 55 and 75 km/h, and in exposed locations and near showers they can reach speeds of 90 km/h.
