In contrast to Trump, Rubio would like to rest a bit on his trips abroad. So that he is not disturbed by the President, he wraps himself in a blanket.

Apparently it’s not always easy for Trump’s closest entourage when the US President is present. Especially when you’re traveling with him on Air Force One. It’s not that easy to simply withdraw from the situation, even on a presidential plane. Especially not when Trump himself never sleeps on a plane.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has his own method, as he told the magazine new York says. Because he needs a break from time to time, but at the same time he wants to keep it a secret from Trump. “I don’t want him to see his foreign minister sleeping on a sofa and think, ‘Oh, that guy’s weak.’”
On Air Force One there is an office with two sofas. Rubio likes to use one of them as a place to sleep. And he knows that sooner or later Trump will wander around the plane and see who is awake. So Rubio essentially transforms himself into any employee: he wraps himself completely in a blanket, including his head. “It makes me look like a mummy,” he says. So he lies down on the sofa, hoping that Trump thinks that some employee is sleeping there.
Even though Trump doesn’t sleep on his plane, he has often been noticed closing his eyes during Cabinet meetings. In the magazine’s article, which focuses primarily on Trump’s health, he explains: “It’s boring as hell.” Nevertheless, he hears every word. This has nothing to do with his health. (front)
