The US President is threatening Iran with the harshest consequences – and those closest to him prove that the voice of reason in the White House has long since fallen silent.

Donald Trump’s deadline expires at 2 a.m. tonight. If Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz by this point, it will bomb the country “back to the Stone Age.” In his last post on his Truth Social platform, he even wrote: “Tonight an entire civilization will perish, never to return. I don’t want that to happen, but it will probably happen.”
Who will stop the madness? A look at the Easter weekend shows: it won’t be his closest political environment.

In the middle of the war with Iran, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is calling for the resignation of the US Army’s chief of staff. General Randy George doesn’t need to be asked twice and resigns immediately. A few hours later it was announced that General David Hodne and Major General William Green had also been fired. These are the eleventh to thirteenth dismissals of top US military personnel since January.

On the same day, Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, and Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt meet at the private George Washington University (in Washington) for a talk. Karoline Leavitt says of her boss: “You always want to be the most well-read person in the room – I try to do that every day. But Donald Trump always is. This man doesn’t miss a single message.”

A US F-15 fighter jet is shot down by the supposedly completely destroyed Iranian air defenses. Seven hours later, one of the two crew members was rescued. The USA remains silent about the whereabouts of the second pilot.
Pete Hegseth must defend his actions before a US Congressional committee. When asked how many generals and admirals he has fired so far, he doesn’t know the answer. When asked about the reasons for his dismissal, he said: “They all serve the will of the president. And we want better representation – in every single position.”

The White House announces that Donald Trump will not attend any public appointments. A rumor immediately spread on social media that the US President had been taken to the Walter Reed military hospital. The speculation is fueled by false reports and an old video and persists despite journalists and officials debunking the rumor.
At the same time, the rescue operation for the second pilot of the F-15 is underway. A special team manages to get to the injured person, but due to “technical problems” the rescue team has to leave two transport planes behind. So that they do not fall into the hands of the Iranian armed forces, they are blown up. This is reported by a US Army member to the AP agency.

Easter Bunny at Trump’s Easter speech
Video: watson/nina bürge
Donald Trump begins Easter Sunday with a tirade: “Open the f****** Strait of Hormuz, you crazy bastards. Or live in hell!” he writes on Truth Social. He signs the post with “Praise be to Allah.”
Later he appears in front of dozens of children at the traditional Easter egg roll in the garden of the White House. Next to a man-sized Easter bunny, he talks about the strength of Iran’s armed forces and the threat they pose. He then explains first to the children in the garden that Joe Biden used a machine to sign his signatures and then to the journalists that without him Israel would be completely destroyed today.

Donald Trump answers questions from journalists for an hour. The event becomes a potpourri of crazy stories and crude claims. Trump threatens to jail the journalist who first reported on the downed F-15. He also rails against NATO, Japan and South Korea. He digresses and reports that Kim Jong-un called Joe Biden “mentally disabled.” Trump also claims that he warned about Osama bin Laden in his book a year before 9/11 (which is demonstrably false) – and he renews his desire to annex Greenland to the USA.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is also allowed to step up to the microphone. He takes the opportunity to repeatedly praise Donald Trump’s strength and compare the rescue of the pilot during the Easter holidays with the reincarnation of Jesus.
Tomorrow at 2 a.m. we will know what decision this cabinet has reached.
