The US actor died on February 19th at the age of 53. A US magazine has now been able to view his official death confirmation.

The American film star was diagnosed with ALS, an incurable degenerative nerve disease, over a year ago. Dane made the illness public in April 2025.
ALS stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. To put it simply, the muscles in the arms and legs atrophy and the motor nerve cells withdraw. The end result is inevitably respiratory failure.
Dane was known to many series fans from the medical series “Grey’s Anatomy”. In it he played the surgeon Mark Sloan. He leaves behind his wife Rebecca Gayheart and their two teenage children.
