A few days after the publication of further Epstein files, the foundation of the ex-wife of the former British Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, announced that it would cease its activities.

“Sarah’s Trust” will close “for the foreseeable future,” a spokesman told British media. The decision had been discussed “for several months”.
Ferguson, known abroad as “Fergie”, appears prominently, like her former husband, in the files on sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in custody in 2019. Andrew therefore had to give up all his honors and titles and is now only called Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Ferguson also lost her title as Duchess of York.
Being named in the Epstein files alone is not evidence of wrongdoing.
Friendly relationship with Epstein
Ferguson’s connection to Epstein is well known. She admitted in an interview with the Evening Standard newspaper in 2011 that she had accepted 15,000 pounds (currently around 16,000 francs) from Epstein and publicly regretted having had contact with Epstein. According to a report in the Sun, “Fergie” later apologized “deeply” to Epstein via email. The Epstein files also suggest that the friendly relationship continued.
By mid-2009, the American had served a prison sentence of several months for inciting prostitution. It is now known that Epstein ran an abuse ring for years, to which dozens of girls and women fell victim.
Other charities had previously stopped working with Ferguson. In emails attributed to Ferguson, Epstein is asked for financial advice, among other things. In another email, Epstein appears to be congratulated on the birth of a boy. (sda/dpa)
