After several days of searching, Slovak rescuers have found the body of a missing tourist in the High Tatras. Everything indicates that the dead man was a 30-year-old man who had disappeared in the border area with Poland since last week, a spokesman for the Polish mountain rescue service told the PAP news agency.

The man took the cable car up Mount Kasprowy Wierch on February 14, surveillance camera recordings showed. After that, his trail was lost. A search operation with sniffer dogs and helicopters that began on Wednesday led rescuers to an avalanche area on Thursday. The rescue operation had to be canceled due to bad weather conditions. There have already been four avalanche deaths in the High Tatras in the past two weeks. (dab/sda/dpa)
