Norwegian Princess Ingrid Alexandra criticized the press in a private Instagram post to around 800 followers. The article appeared last Thursday and refers to the current media attention surrounding her family. She explained that the repeated personal attacks lacked substance: “I’m going crazy. When is enough?” The content was leaked to the Norwegian newspaper NRK.
According to NRK, the 20-year-old emphasized that it was not about individual incidents or people, but about the type of media representation. She began with the words: “This won’t pass the VG test.” She was addressing the Norwegian newspaper VG, which, like others, also reports on the royal family. It was not clear why this medium was explicitly mentioned. The Norwegian royal family did not want to comment on the article when asked by NRK.
Thought game about fictional murder
In her contribution, Ingrid Alexandra tried to think about a person who is wrongly accused publicly and has to justify himself comprehensively. The princess spoke to an imaginary counterpart. This person is accused of murder without any evidence. The person’s past then triggers a lot of media interest. She had been thinking about this fictional situation for years, she wrote, according to NRK. The princess concluded the text with the words: “It is important not to make claims for which you have no basis.”
The princess’s post came against the backdrop of recent headlines about her family. Her half-brother Marius Borg Høiby is currently on trial on several charges, including rape and abuse. He denies the rape allegations but admits to other crimes.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit has also recently come under fire: According to media reports, she ended contact with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein later than initially stated (Watson reported).
