Six races, six gold: The Norwegian cross-country skier Johannes Høsflot Klæbo dominated his sport at will at the Olympic Games. He even set an Olympic record with his six gold medals.

That’s not the only reason why his finish in the 50 kilometer mass start, the last of the six races, was special. Klæbo’s girlfriend Pernille Døsvik was waiting for the 29-year-old at the finish. She welcomed her victorious friend with a kiss. As Døsvik now revealed to the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, it was the couple’s first kiss in three months.
According to NRK, the couple had been living in strict quarantine since December so as not to put Klæbo at risk of illness before the Olympics. Contact between the two is said to have been strictly regulated – without kisses. “The only time I saw her was last night when I went for a little walk – that was the only time during the whole game. It was time to meet her now and I look forward to when this is over so we can have more time together,” said Klæbo after his triumph. Looking at the kiss, he said:
«Today it is allowed. Today is the last day, so the quarantine is broken.”

Klæbo’s Olympic quarantine definitely fits a pattern. The Norwegian is known for subordinating everything to success and for maintaining a very controlled and ascetic lifestyle. This happens to his girlfriend often: every time she went to the cinema with friends, she had to move in with her parents for two days until it was ensured that she had not contracted an infection.
However, this does not affect the longevity of their relationship: Klæbo and Døsvik have been a couple since 2018 and have even been engaged since 2025. Døsvik also expressed her admiration for her boyfriend on Instagram: There she wrote: “I admire your drive, your uncompromising attitude and your calmness.
