After the death of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, justice officials are said to have tried to distract the media with a false corpse, according to an FBI document.
This emerges from a summary of an interview with a prison guard, which is part of the recently published Epstein files. The deception was intended to ensure that the real corpse was transported to the forensic medicine center without any problems.
Epstein, who ran an abuse ring for years, was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in New York in August 2019. According to official information, he committed suicide. Because of his connections in the highest circles of society and politics as well as mishaps in the surveillance of the 66-year-old in prison, Epstein’s death is the subject of numerous conspiracy stories.

Fake corpse made from boxes and bedsheets
According to the statement in the FBI document, numerous media representatives gathered outside the detention center on the day of his death. “In order to deceive the media,” the judicial employee said, something that looked like a human body was arranged using boxes and bed sheets. The false body was transported away in a white forensic van, which the press representatives also followed. The real body was driven away “unnoticed” in a black vehicle.
The interview summary document is not part of the official documentation of Epstein’s death and cannot be verified beyond reasonable doubt. The name of the prison guard is blacked out; not every statement can be attributed to him. The document confirms that Epstein spoke on the phone the day before his death – therefore with his mother. Epstein is described as “happy” because he was able to make a phone call. (sda/dpa/val)
