According to media reports, a person in the US state of Arizona was injured in a firearms incident in which the US border guard is said to have been involved. He was in critical condition, as the US broadcasters NBC News and Fox News reported, citing the relevant authorities on site. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department in the south of the state confirmed to the German Press Agency that the Border Patrol was involved in the incident. This authority did not initially comment when asked.
NBC News reported, citing the local fire department, that one person was shot on Tuesday morning (local time). It was initially unclear how exactly the firearm incident occurred. The person was then flown by helicopter to a regional trauma center.
