Erfan Soltani took to the streets in the Iranian city of Karaj to demonstrate against the mullahs’ regime. The 26-year-old was arrested and is now awaiting his execution, which is scheduled for Wednesday.
The verdict came in an opaque process in which Soltani was not even granted a lawyer, as the Kurdish human rights organization Hengaw reports. The prosecution? «Moharebeh» – the Persian word means something like “war against God”. In the Islamic Republic, this is punishable by death according to its interpretation of Sharia law.
According to Hengaw, Soltani’s family only learned of his death sentence on Monday. They are said to have been granted one last meeting with him.
