The US state of Minnesota is, in the words of some Republicans, full of “criminal illegal immigrants” and “domestic terrorists.” A few weeks ago, President Donald Trump announced “reckoning and retaliation”, and as part of the highly controversial “Operation Metro Surge”, migrants have since been arrested and become victims of sometimes the most brutal violence.
In contrast, there is a protest in Minnesota whose most violent action is probably the throwing of dildos.

ICE protest in Minneapolis: Dildos fly through the air
A month after the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis, hundreds of people took to the streets again on Saturday. As a sign of protest, many of them brought sex toys with them to throw at passing cars in which federal officials were suspected to be sitting.
Specifically, the protesters in Minnesota had gathered in front of the Whipple Federal Building. In many cases, the building serves as a temporary residence for people arrested by ICE. Asylum and deportation procedures are also processed here.
As soon as a car left or entered the area, swarms of dildos flew over the fences that separated the protesters from the area. Videos show strange scenes in which police officers pick up one dildo after another and throw them back into the crowd.

It is not entirely clear why exactly sex toys were chosen as a means of protest. In any case, many people on social media are enthusiastic about the campaign. “This is the funniest way to protest. “Sets a whole new standard,” writes one Reddit-User.
«Who has the money to throw away a dildo? Don’t these things cost at least $60 each?” complains another. In a comment he points out that very cheap productions from low-cost providers may have been used for the protest.

Minneapolis shows resistance to ICE
In fact, this isn’t the first time sex toys have been linked to the ICE protests. Most recently, the “Smitten Kitten” sex shop in Minnesota attracted a lot of attention when the owners quickly converted it into a collection point for relief supplies. Baby food and milk are now stacked there next to dildos and bondage sets.
Additionally, the store partners with other local businesses to organize fundraisers for Minnesota. “We are collecting money and supplies for families who are stuck at home because they are afraid of the presence of the ICE immigration authority in the city or because their children cannot go to school,” one of the employees explains to the portal “goodgoodgood”.

As the “New York Post” Reportedly, at least 42 people were arrested as part of the protests on Saturday. Local authorities said the situation later escalated and some of the protesters also threw blocks of ice.
In the middle of the week, the US government announced the immediate withdrawal of 700 emergency services from the state of Minnesota. President Donald Trump’s border commissioner, Tom Homan, said on Wednesday that this included members of the immigration agency ICE as well as the border protection agency CBP. It is not clear whether this directive has already been implemented.
