A fire broke out in a 5-star hotel in Savoy on Tuesday evening. The fire department announced that 83 guests had to be evacuated in the holiday resort of Courchevel.
The fire is spreading across the roof of the building and there is a risk of spreading to neighboring buildings, Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Viaud of the department’s fire and rescue service told AFP. He thereby confirmed information from the daily newspaper “Le Dauphiné Libéré” and the radio station Ici Pays de Savoie.
The fire occurred shortly before 7 p.m. The fire department quickly moved out to evacuate 83 guests from the Hotel Grandes Alpes in the resort. So far there have been no victims. The fire is currently devastating the roof, it said. Around 60 firefighters were currently trying to bring the fire under control. (hkl/sda/afp)
