Marius Borg Høiby has been questioned further since Wednesday morning. This continues yesterday’s hearing. There, his ex-girlfriend Nora Haukland told how she begged the Norwegian crown prince couple to help Høiby. “You have to help him, don’t you see that he needs help?” the woman said to Høiby’s mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and stepfather, Crown Prince Haakon.

Haukland is said to have suggested to the Crown Prince couple that they send Høiby to a rehab clinic. “It doesn’t end well,” the Norwegian said she added. The woman and Høiby were a couple for almost a year, from 2022 to 2023.
“You don’t deserve this”
A circumstance that apparently still stirs up the son of the scandal emotionally a day later. As Norwegian media report, Marius Borg Høiby cried bitterly as he took the witness stand. “It’s not right that Nora (editor’s note: Haukland) is dragging my mother and Haakon into this,” he told the court. “No one has done as much for me as these two,” claims Høiby. “You don’t deserve this,” said the 29-year-old.

Høiby has been standing trial at the Oslo District Court since the beginning of the month. He is charged with 38 counts, including four counts of rape under Norwegian law and assault. He denied the most serious allegations at the start of the trial. He had partially admitted some other crimes – including cases of domestic violence, property damage, drug abuse and traffic offenses.
Mette-Marit hadn’t heard from Høiby for days
According to the ex-girlfriend, the alleged conversation with Mette-Marit and Haakon took place after the relationship with Høiby ended, writes the Norwegian news agency NTB. Accordingly, the Crown Princess is said to have contacted the woman after she had not heard from her son for days. When the young woman subsequently called Høiby, she is said to have had the impression that he had been crying. The Norwegian royal family has not yet commented on the incident.
The ex-girlfriend had previously reported violence in the relationship with Høiby. Among other things, Mette-Marit’s eldest son is said to have hit the woman with his fist so that she fell to the ground. According to consistent media reports, the ex-girlfriend said this in court.
