French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Wednesday said France will open a consulate in Greenland on February 6, acting on a decision taken last year during President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the autonomous Danish territory. The “political signal” to “be more present” in Greenland comes as President Donald Trump threatens a takeover of the Arctic region.
