European Tourism Day advances work on the EU’s upcoming tourism strategy

On Monday, 26 January, Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, will host the European Tourism Day in Brussels, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders and experts to explore how Europe can shape the tourism of tomorrow. The event will address a broad range of topics, including sustainability, accessibility, the use of Artificial Intelligence and data, and private investment in the sector. Discussions will contribute to efforts to strengthen Europe’s tourism competitiveness and brand, feeding into the EU’s upcoming Strategy for Sustainable Tourism. Registration for on-site participation has closed, but the event can be followed via livestream.  

In parallel, Commissioner Tzitzikostas will convene a Strategic Dialogue with senior representatives of the tourism sector to support the preparation of the forthcoming EU strategy. The Dialogue aims to jointly identify challenges, opportunities, and concrete actions to strengthen the EU tourism sector and to prepare it for the future.
