On the occasion of the 250th birthday of the USA, dollar bills are to be printed for the first time that show the signature of a sitting president. The signature of department head Scott Bessent will also be visible, it was said.
At first it was unclear when the first bills would come into circulation and which banknotes would have Trump’s and Bessent’s signatures printed on them. According to his ministry, Bessent said: “There is no more effective way to honor the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald Trump than with US dollar banknotes bearing his name.”
Trump’s name everywhere in the USA
In the past, the president has given his name to numerous projects. In addition to properties such as the Trump Tower in New York or the Trump golf courses worldwide, the US President announced the Trump Gold Card in his second term in office – a type of visa that is available upon payment of five million dollars. The government website “TrumpRx” should allow Americans to get medication more cheaply.
Trump also renamed the renowned Kennedy Center in the US capital Washington the “Trump Kennedy Center” amid public protest. According to media reports, there was also talk of naming Penn Station in New York and Dulles Airport in Virginia after Trump. Americans and people living in the USA can also buy an annual pass to national parks where the president has been photographed. (dab/sda/dpa)
