After former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was questioned, her husband, ex-President Bill Clinton, now also has to face questions from the US Parliament in the Epstein case. The Republican chairman of the oversight committee, James Comer, announced before the hearing began that the former president would be questioned about photos, emails and travel movements in connection with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019. What is known, among other things, is that Epstein was in the White House several times during Clinton’s presidency and that the ex-president repeatedly traveled on Epstein’s plane.
Comer said Hillary Clinton referred to her husband in at least a dozen questions during her questioning the day before. This has expanded the list of questions for the ex-president. There are also questions about Epstein’s alleged role in the Clinton Foundation, a charitable foundation founded by the Clintons, and its “Clinton Global Initiative,” which organizes international projects and partnerships.
The interview will take place behind closed doors in Chappaqua, New York, where the Clintons live. According to the committee, the meeting will last longer than Hillary Clinton’s six-hour hearing the day before. The Republicans announced that they would publish the video recording of their questioning in full “as soon as possible.” For all practical purposes, this is a “public hearing,” Comer said. The recording of Bill Clinton’s questioning should also be published afterwards. (sda/dpa)
