“We have restored the power supply to all three affected S-Bahn stations.” These are the stations Mexicoplatz, Nikolassee and Wannsee. This means the train stations could be used again.
The civil engineering work on the two construction sites has been completed. The electrical work begins today. This means we are “very well on schedule,” said the spokesman. Of the 74 affected care facilities, 72 have had their power restored. There are currently around “35 very large emergency generators in use”. It will take until Thursday afternoon for everyone affected to be back online.
The cause of the power outage was an arson attack on a cable bridge in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district, to which a left-wing extremist group claimed responsibility. On Saturday morning, 45,000 households and 2,200 companies in the southwest of the German capital were initially without power. (sda/dpa)
