The luxury brand Prada, together with the US space company Axiom Space, has presented the underwear that astronauts will wear on future trips to the moon.
As early as 2024, the two companies presented designs for the new NASA space suits, which will be used for the planned moon landing in 2028. But they are not finished yet. Now comes the underwear.
According to the manufacturer, the so-called Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment, or LCVG for short, is the high-performance inner layer of the suit for the moonwalk. This special underwear ensures cooling, ventilation and comfort during spacewalks lasting up to eight hours. The material should be durable enough to be worn multiple times on long-term missions.
For fashion companies like Prada, moon trips are particularly attractive from a marketing perspective because they attract enormous attention. Marketing professor Thomai Serdari said opposite the mirrorthat Prada is particularly interested in gaining access to wealthy customers who want to travel into space. In addition, the brand should be associated with avant-garde thinking. (emm, reuters, Spiegel Science)
