On the last day of the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, the metropolis once again became the target of Ukrainian drone attacks Focus reported. Governor Alexander Beglov and the civil defense authorities warned the population of a “large-scale attack with military drones”. Russian air defense is in action.
At the start of the economic forum on Wednesday, attacks on an oil refinery caused clouds of black smoke that were visible from afar over the historic old town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj commented on the drone attacks on X. “It is time to end this war,” he writes. And further:
“But Russia’s ruler wants to keep fighting. That is why the Ukrainian sanctions against this aggression are having an effect. Last night our drones covered a distance of about 1000 kilometers to the St.Petersburg region – to the arsenals of the enemy navy and a base in Kronstadt. Our long-range attacks also reached around 500 kilometers into the Krasnodar region – and hit an oil depot.
Russia must end its war. Any form of injustice against Ukraine will receive a fair response, writes Zelensky.

Civil defense also sent a drone warning via SMS. Air traffic was temporarily suspended at Pulkovo Airport early in the morning. Take-offs and landings were temporarily not possible due to the threat situation. (hkl)
