The Kennedy Center in Washington bans US President Donald Trump’s name from official documents. Employees of the world-famous cultural institution have been instructed to “immediately” remove Trump’s name from email signatures, letterheads and answering machines.

This emerged from a memo sent on Thursday (local time) that was available to several US newspapers. The website, brochures and indoor and outdoor signs would also have to be changed by June 12th.
The move follows a court decision last week. A judge ordered Trump’s name removed from the center’s facade. In addition, at least for the time being, the center may not be closed for renovation work in the summer for two years as Trump planned. Trump reacted extremely angrily to the verdict.
Fight against “anti-American propaganda”
Shortly after taking office, Trump took control of the Kennedy Center a year ago and announced a fight against “anti-American propaganda” in the cultural world. He dismissed several members of the board of trustees, took over the chairmanship and commissioned his confidant Richard Grenell to realign the institution. In December, the Kennedy Center was renamed the Trump Kennedy Center. This led to major protests and artists canceled performances.
All genres of theater, dance and music are traditionally shown in the Kennedy Center building on the Potomac River. The house was named after former President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963). (dab/sda/dpa)
