On the occasion of Donald Trump’s 80th birthday on June 14th and the 250th anniversary, MMA fights will take place in an arena in front of the White House. The construction for the “UFC Freedom Fights 250” is already underway. The US President already seems thrilled US media report. In a video he posted on Tuesday evening, he compared the cage to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This was originally built for the World Exhibition in 1989 and was supposed to be dismantled after 20 years. But in the end a different decision was made.
Trump is now hoping for a similar effect in Washington: “We are building something in front of the White House that will attract a lot of people. “Honestly, it’s going to be a great UFC fight on June 14th and when I look at it, we may never dismantle the arena again,” said Trump.
Normally, the square on which the arena stands is used by presidents for helicopter flights. Until recently, media representatives had the opportunity to briefly shout questions to them as they walked to the helicopter or to the White House. Since the construction work, this has no longer been possible. Other events also take place regularly on the square, such as the traditional White House egg hunt.
Trump is an avowed MMA fan. Almost a year ago He had announced that he would fight for exhibitions for the USA’s anniversary celebration. The festival is expected to last several weeks. A big concert with prominent acts was also planned, but a number of artists had recently canceled. (front)
