A woman’s walled-up body was discovered in Austria. The police found the dead woman in a house in Münchendorf, south of Vienna, as authorities confirmed to the German Press Agency.
The newspapers “Heute” and “Kronen Zeitung” had previously reported on the case. Accordingly, the dead woman was an elderly woman.
The case is being investigated and an autopsy has been ordered, a spokeswoman for the Vienna public prosecutor’s office told dpa. She did not provide any further details.
Found in a small community near Vienna
Officials said investigators got into the house last week with the help of the fire department. The woman therefore did not live permanently in Münchendorf, but rather had a second home there.
The rural community with around 3,000 inhabitants is located in the surrounding area of the Austrian capital.
The public prosecutor’s office also did not comment on media reports that the woman could have been dead for years. The spokeswoman also did not comment on speculation that the dead woman could have been hidden so that the woman could continue to receive social benefits. (sda/dpa)
