Three people were killed when a minibus collided with an elephant in a national park in Uganda.

According to police, the minibus was in the park in the northwest of the African country on the way from Arua to the capital Kampala. The vehicle collided with an elephant crossing the road. The driver then lost control of the vehicle.

“Three passengers died on site, four others, including the driver, were injured,” the police said on the online service X. The Ugandan nature conservation authority UWA warned vehicle owners that they should drive carefully in national parks because animals often cross the roads there. (hkl/sda/apa/afp)
