On Sunday afternoon, a tiger attacked and injured a helper at tiger tamer Carmen Zander’s home in Dölzig. The police confirmed this. Carmen Zander herself was not injured.
After the attack, a tiger escaped from the enclosure in the commercial area. The police shot the animal in a nearby garden area. According to the emergency services, there are no other animals at large.
The Dölzig fire department is currently on site and is closing the road towards Frankenheim. A rescue helicopter is also in use. There are also heavily armed police officers on site. Further information on the condition of the injured helper was initially not available.
There have been repeated allegations against the tamer from Leipzig in the past. The woman had advertised a tiger show in the Schkeuditz district of Dölzig despite not having permission. The Leipzig public prosecutor’s office then initiated an investigation.
