The French authorities are urging drivers in the Saône-et-Loire region in eastern France to be careful. Currently, deer and other wild animals can behave unpredictably on roads. Because if they eat fermented fruit, they get drunk.
The Saône-et-Loire gendarmerie has released a video of such a deer. It seems disoriented and runs in circles. It probably consumed fermented fruits.

The police commented on the video with a wink: “Not all road users are sober.”
In the spring, it is common for some species of deer to eat fermented fruits, buds or plants. This can make their behavior risky. Drivers should pay particular attention to sudden street crossings, remaining on the road or hectic escapes.
However, police are not ruling out other underlying causes for the animals’ behavior, such as injury, illness, trauma or neurological disorders.
