Can you still remember the first song you heard on Spotify? Most likely not. A new in-app function from Spotify now shows nostalgics exactly that. To mark the 20th anniversary of the streaming service, which was founded in Stockholm in 2006, Spotify is introducing the “Party of the Year(s)” function.
Similar to the Wrapped annual reviews, users can click through their own listening history on their smartphone. In contrast to the annual review, however, you go back to the first day of your own app use. The function shows you the following information:
- When you first used Spotify
- What song you played first
- Which artist you have listened to most often overall
- How many songs you have streamed on Spotify since your first day
As with Wrapped, your own statistics are provided in story-optimized graphics for sharing. Spotify also provides you with the “All-Time Top Songs” playlist with the 120 most listened to songs in Spotify’s history. What is special about the playlist is that it also shows the number of streams of the respective song.
Back in April, Spotify published various all-time best lists on its website to mark its 20th anniversary. Including the list of the world’s most streamed artists and the most listened to songs.
If you would like to watch your own review, you can do so directly in the app by entering the search terms “Spotify 20” or “Party of the Year(s)”. Alternatively you can also use the link spotify.com/20 the function can be accessed.
