US presidential spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt has announced the birth of her second child. “On May 1st, Viviana, also known as ‘Vivi’, joined our family and our hearts immediately exploded with love,” US President Donald Trump’s spokeswoman wrote on the X platform. The girl is “perfect and healthy”. Her older son is happily getting used to life with his little sister.
Along with the lines, the 28-year-old published a carefully staged photo with her newborn in her arms from a pastel pink nursery. On the shelf behind her are children’s books with titles such as “My First Bible,” “Handbags A-Z” and language learning books about Washington. Next to it: a framed wedding photo decorated with a pink bow. The scene underlines the image that Leavitt cultivates of herself as a public figure on social networks: God-believing, family-oriented, fashion-conscious – and as a flawless patriot deeply rooted in the political cosmos of the US capital.
On May 1st, Viviana aka “Vivi” joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love.
She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble.

In her post, Leavitt thanked everyone who prayed for her during her pregnancy. “I really felt these prayers throughout,” she wrote. “God is good.”
For years, the speaker has presented herself as a conservative model American and “super mother” who combines family and career. She regularly shows photos of her son in the White House or recordings of prayers together with her team before press conferences.
“What a stupid question”
Politically, Leavitt is one of Trump’s most loyal supporters. She worked in the White House during his first term in office, and later aggressively defended Trump’s unsubstantiated claims about voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Today she is considered one of the government’s most aggressive voices towards critical media.
At press conferences, she often sharply brushes off critical questions, has described reporters’ questions as “stupid questions” or reacted to detailed questions with demonstrative insult. At the same time, Leavitt expanded access to the White House for pro-Trump influencers and right-wing online media. In their briefings, hand-picked so-called new media are often allowed to ask the first question – often accompanied by strikingly sympathetic comments towards Trump and his government.
Her loyalty became particularly visible last summer: Just three days after the birth of her first child, Leavitt returned early from maternity leave following the attempted assassination of Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump literally risked his life to win the election, she told the conservative online magazine “The Conservateur” at the time. “The least I could do was get back to work quickly.” (sda/dpa)
