Iran warns US not to to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which he had blocked, to international shipping traffic. “Project Freedom is a Project Dead End,” wrote Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that night on Platform X, with a view to the initiative announced by US President Donald Trump to end the blockade of the strait. “The events in the Strait of Hormuz make it clear that there is no military solution to a political crisis.”

Iran also has an interest in exporting its oil via the Strait of Hormuz. However, it is still controversial which ships are allowed to pass through the strait and who should have control over them.

Araghchi further claimed that negotiations to end the war were making progress “thanks to the great commitment of Pakistan.” The United States should be careful “not to allow itself to be drawn back into a quagmire by malevolent forces.” The same also applies to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

US President Trump had on Sunday Launch of an initiative entitled “Project Freedom” announced. According to the responsible US regional command (Centcom), destroyers entered the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. It was said that two merchant ships flying the US flag were able to leave the sea area. There were no independent confirmations of this.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards said they fired fired several missiles in the direction of the US warships as a warning. In addition, Iran confirmed one Attack on oil facilities in the port of Fujairah in the UAE, which caught fire. A military representative cited an “illegal passage” of US warships through the Strait of Hormuz as the reason. Fujairah is a port from which the UAE can export its oil without tankers having to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

On April 8, a ceasefire was agreed between the USA and Iran through Pakistan’s mediation. which now seems to be becoming brittle. The talks between the conflicting parties have so far produced no results. The opening of the strait, which is important for global oil trade, is, along with the Iranian nuclear program, one of the sticking points in the negotiations between the USA and Iran to resolve the conflict.
