In a joint action, the left-wing German parties SPD, Greens and Left declared their departure from the Internet platform X.

“X has descended into chaos in recent years,” said statements from the three parties and parliamentary groups, some of which were worded in the same way. Political debates thrive on exchange, while X increasingly promotes disinformation. “That’s why we have decided across party lines not to use our account anymore,” it said under the hashtag #WeLeaveX.
X has descended into chaos in recent years. Political debates thrive on exchanges that reach and inform people. X, on the other hand, is increasingly promoting disinformation. That’s why we no longer use this account.#WeLeaveX

The short message service, which became known as Twitter, has been increasingly criticized since it was taken over by Elon Musk in 2022. After the controversial tech billionaire bought the platform for around $44 billion, more and more companies, politicians and celebrities withdrew from X.
According to a report by “Table.Media”, the action was initiated by the political director of the Greens, Pegah Edalatian. In her words, X has now become a “gateway for disinformation and an aggressive debate culture.” However, the individual party branches and members could decide for themselves whether they want to stay on the platform.
