According to the information, the Kazakh man sent his command officer information about, among other things, Germany’s military support for Ukraine and about the German arms and defense industry. This is said to have particularly concerned companies that develop drones and robots.
Photos from Berlin and recruitment for a sabotage force?
The suspect is also said to have repeatedly forwarded photos of public buildings in Berlin and of military convoys on motorways – including the “convoy of a NATO state”. He is also said to have informed his contact at the Russian secret service about suitable sabotage targets in Germany and offered to recruit people for a sabotage and espionage force.
The alleged spy was arrested on Tuesday in Berlin by officers from the Federal Criminal Police Office. He is to be brought before the investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice today, who will issue an arrest warrant for him and decide on his pre-trial detention. (hkl/sda/dpa)
