A luxury property in Key Biscayne is currently making headlines: A villa known from the cult film “Scarface” is for sale for $237 million. If the price is achieved, the property would be among the most expensive homes ever sold in the United States.
The property will immediately look familiar to film fans. In “Scarface,” the villa served as the residence of the fictional drug lord Frank Lopez, played by Robert Loggia. Particularly striking: the glass elevator, which has been preserved to this day and can also be seen in current sales photos.
The history of the house is no less spectacular than its film career. It was built in the early 1980s by Roberto Striedinger, according to Wall Street Journala pilot with ties to the Colombian drug cartel. After his conviction, the property was confiscated by US authorities and later resold.

Connection to Richard Nixon
The political history of the actual property goes back even further: in the 1970s it was part of the so-called Winter White House of former US President Richard Nixon. At that time he used the area as a retreat.
A relic from this time has been preserved to this day: a 20,000 square meter helicopter landing pad that was originally built for state visits.
13,000 square meters of living space
Today the 13,000 square meter villa is modernized and flooded with light. Highlights include:
- Ceiling heights of up to 7 meters
- Direct water access with over 260 meters of shoreline
- A music studio and a fitness area
- An eye-catching piano-shaped pool complex
- Generous indoor-outdoor areas
The property covers a total of almost one hectare (10,000 square meters) directly on the water.
Not the most expensive villa ever
The current owner, investor John Devaney, bought the property in the early 2000s for around $15 million and later expanded it. Now he wants to set a new record with the sale.
