The demonstrators demanded an end to the Iran war and that all parties involved lay down their arms. This demand also includes the disarmament of Israel. The demonstrators were stopped by the police during the protest. At least 15 people were arrested.
The officers violently intervened in the gathering, pulling the participants apart and to the ground. According to media reports, individual participants in the protest were beaten or put in a stranglehold. This information cannot yet be independently verified.
The protest was declared unauthorized by the police and was therefore disbanded. Large gatherings of people are currently banned in Israel for fear of Iranian attacks. Protests against the war also took place in several other Israeli cities at the same time. These were also broken up and a few people were arrested.
According to the organization “Standing Together,” the police are tasked with arresting demonstrators and suppressing their resistance. The organization works to restore peace in the Middle East. She is also committed to peace and the legal processing of the Gaza conflict.
Since the beginning of the Iran war, people in Israel have been taking to the streets for peace. Initially only a few dozen people took part in the protests, but this number is now steadily increasing. (nib)
