The police told the German Press Agency (dpa) that these are allegations from 2014 and 2015 in connection with alleged rape and sexual assaults.
The reopening of the investigation followed the regulator’s launch of an internal investigation into alleged failings in the Tate case. Three women had made allegations against Tate to police, but the case was closed in 2019 after a four-year investigation, the PA news agency reported. The 39-year-old Tate continues to strongly deny “all allegations,” a spokesman told the BBC.
The three women said the reopening of the investigation was long overdue. “We have never given up our search for justice,” it said in a statement. Together with a fourth woman, the three had already brought their allegations to court; the civil trial is scheduled to start next June.
Multiple allegations and proceedings
Andrew Tate and his younger brother Tristan are also facing proceedings in Romania, where they also deny the allegations. Once completed, they will be extradited to the UK to face further proceedings involving allegations of rape and human trafficking. Bedfordshire Police had issued an international arrest warrant for the siblings. The allegations in this case date back to 2012 to 2015.
