Disney is releasing a documentary about singer Duffy. The documentary promises an insight into all the details that forced them to hide for a decade.

It was a big mystery for a long time: After she became one of the biggest pop stars of the 2000s with her debut album “Rockferry” in 2008, The Welsh pop star Duffy disappeared completely from the public eye.

In 2020, she revealed on Instagram what had happened to her: Ten years ago, she said, she was drugged, kidnapped and taken to another country where she was violently abused and raped.
Now Disney Plus has announced that it will publish a big interview with the 41-year-old. It is her first major appearance in public.

The Instagram post has now been deleted, but Duffy describes her experiences in an essay on her website. She reports that she was drugged in a restaurant on her birthday, then held in her own apartment and taken abroad. “I don’t remember getting on the plane and only came to when I was in a moving vehicle. I was taken to a hotel room and the perpetrator returned and raped me. I remember the pain and how I tried to stay conscious in the room after the crime.”
In the announced documentary, the 41-year-old tells her story in detail in front of the camera for the first time. Filming for the documentary, which is being produced by Disney, is expected to begin shortly. A press release promises “new, unprecedented insight” into the life of the “Mercy” singer, who will tell her entire life story, as well as interviews with friends, family and colleagues in the music industry.
