The International Space Station (ISS) has captured images of Russian missiles being intercepted by Ukrainian air defences.

The NASA photographs, which were taken on 27 December, 2025, appear to show Russian ballistic missiles being fired towards Kyiv, according to specialists who analysed the footage.

Two bright streaks can be seen crossing the frame from the north-east towards the capital before disappearing amid explosions.

Space enthusiast Riccardo Rossi, who posted a timelapse of the images on his social media accounts, said that he had never seen military activity so clearly in 12 years of looking at astronaut photography.
