Oil warehouse in Tehran on fire
In the conflict with its arch-enemy Iran, Israel bombed an oil depot in Tehran for the first time around a week after the start of the war. Footage from the capital circulated on social media showing a massive fireball and rising dark plumes of smoke. Israel’s army said Iran’s armed forces were using the tanks for their military infrastructure. According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, the Revolutionary Guards confirmed the bombing of an oil refinery in southern Tehran.
Israel’s army: Al-Quds commanders attacked in Beirut
Israel also said it carried out an attack on commanders of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Lebanon’s capital Beirut that night. At the same time, Israel continued its attacks against the Hezbollah militia, which is allied with Tehran, in the south of Beirut. Iran, in turn, fired missiles at Israel again and attacked fuel tanks at the international airport in Kuwait and targets in Saudi Arabia with drones. In the morning, the Israeli Air Force said it began another wave of attacks in Iran.
The Israeli army did not provide any information about the exact location of the attack on Quds commanders in Beirut. According to Lebanese information, Israel’s military deliberately attacked a room in a luxury hotel in the center of Beirut that night. According to preliminary information from the Ministry of Health, at least four people were killed and eight other people were injured. According to security sources, one of the fatalities was an Iranian citizen.
The current developments in the live ticker:
Iran attacks Saudi Arabia and Kuwait
In response to the American-Israeli military strikes, Tehran continued its attacks overnight against Arab states where there are US military bases. Air defenses in Kuwait intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles that entered the airspace, the army said on X.
Shortly before, fuel tanks at Kuwait’s international airport had been targeted by drone attacks, according to the Ministry of Defense. There was initially no further information. The army said civilian facilities were damaged by debris from the air defense operation.
The Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia also reported that night that six drones had been intercepted and destroyed in the east of the capital Riyadh. Iran’s President Massoud Peseschkian previously stated that as a condition for stopping air strikes on neighboring countries, there would be no attacks on his country from there.
Iran and the US blame each other
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had previously accused the USA of attacking a desalination plant on the island of Qeshm in the Strait of Hormuz. The water supply to 30 villages was affected, he wrote on Platform X. The information could not initially be independently verified. An attack on Iran’s infrastructure would be a “dangerous step with serious consequences,” wrote Araghchi.
Trump, in turn, accused Tehran of being responsible for the bombing of a girls’ school in Iran on the first day of the war. Asked whether the US was responsible, he told reporters: “No, in my opinion, based on what I saw, it was done by Iran.” US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters that the incident was being investigated.
According to Iranian sources, around 170 schoolgirls were killed in the attack last Saturday.

Trump pays his last respects to fallen US soldiers
Meanwhile, Trump took part in the transfer of the six US soldiers killed in the Iran war. To do this, he traveled to Dover Air Force Base in the US state of Delaware, where he also met the families of the fallen. According to US information, the soldiers were killed in a drone attack in Kuwait in the first days of the war.
Amid guests who were mostly dressed in black, Trump also stood out because he was wearing a white baseball cap with the inscription “USA”.
According to Witkoff, Russia does not support Iran
Meanwhile, US special envoy Steve Witkoff told Russia that Moscow should not support Tehran with information in the war. When asked about this, Witkoff told journalists: “I said that clearly.” He did not give any further details.
Several US media outlets had reported that Russia was providing Iran with location information and movement data for American troops, ships and aircraft. Witkoff is Trump’s chief negotiator for Moscow regarding the war in Ukraine. The real estate investor and lawyer maintains good relations with Russia. In the past, he has often attracted attention with Russia-friendly statements.
Netanyahu: “Moment of truth” is getting closer
Trump, meanwhile, ruled out involving Kurds in the Iran war. Kurdish fighters in the region were ready to do that, but he told them he didn’t want that, Trump told reporters. The USA has a good relationship with the Kurds, “but we don’t want to make the war more complicated than it already is.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video address to the people of Iran that the “moment of truth” was approaching. “We want to liberate Iran and live in peace with it,” said Netanyahu. But “liberation from the yoke of tyranny” ultimately depends on the Iranian people. (sda/dpa/con)
