The BBC verified the recordings. According to BBC fact checkers, several factors indicate that the video is real. The buzzing that can be heard before the explosion indicates a drone. However, because the video quality is not sufficient and the object is visible but not identifiable, they cannot confirm with certainty the cause of the explosion.

Some planes are currently landing and taking off again, sometimes several hours late. The airport’s website encourages passengers to only travel to the airport if their flight has been explicitly confirmed by the respective airline.
Emirates Airline posted a post early Saturday morning announcing a disruption to airport operations. The post has since been deleted and replaced with a message that flight operations have resumed. (hde)
