The Council of States wants to financially support the victims of the Crans-Montana fire disaster. He agrees to a solidarity contribution of 50,000 francs per person. However, the small chamber would like to enable recourse claims from the federal government.

With 33 votes to 3 and seven abstentions, the Council of States approved the urgent federal law on support for victims in the version amended by its legal commission.
With 33 votes in favor and one against, with nine abstentions, the small chamber approved additional loans worth a good 14.5 million francs. On the one hand, this involves immediate assistance for those affected and, on the other hand, covering the costs of setting up a round table and supporting cantonal victim support centers.
The decision does not include the federal government’s subsidiary participation in settlement solutions. The Federal Council would like to spend a maximum of 20 million francs on this. The Legal Commission requested that this question be examined later and in greater depth in the ordinary legislative procedure. The Council of States followed her in this.
The National Council will next have to deal with the matter in the spring session. (hkl/sda)
