The American actor Bruce Campbell, who became known thanks to the horror classic “Dance of the Devils” (1981), is suffering from cancer. The 67-year-old said on social media that it is a type of cancer that is classified as treatable but not curable. He did not provide any further information about the illness. Because of the treatment he now has to take a step back from his career. Unfortunately, he will be canceling appearances at film fairs planned for this summer. Campbell let his fans know that he had a lot of support and that he fully expected to “be there for a while.”
In 1981, US director Sam Raimi (66) brought the actor in front of the camera as the leading actor for the horror shocker “Dance of the Devils”. He also appeared in the sequels “Dance of the Devils II” (1987) and “Army of Darkness” (1992). Under the direction of Raimi, he also appeared in supporting roles in the “Spider-Man” trilogy and in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. From 2007 to 2013, Campbell starred in the spy series “Burn Notice”. (dab/sda/dpa)
