Due to snow and ice, Vienna Airport has stopped operations, as Schwechat Airport has announced. All flights that were supposed to take off on Friday morning remain on the ground for the first time. For many travelers this means waiting and hoping or rebooking. “We ask passengers whose flights have been canceled not to come to the airport,” said Vienna Airport.
According to the flight plan, around 117 flights (arriving and departing) were planned for Friday until 9 a.m., 19 have currently been canceled and further cancellations cannot be ruled out.

“From the current perspective, individual take-offs should be possible again from 9 a.m. and landings again from 10 a.m. However, delays are still to be expected,” Austrian media quoted an airport spokesman as saying. An Austrian Airlines flight from Zurich to Vienna is also delayed.
A low from Italy brought large amounts of snow to Austria and thus deep winter conditions. Around 20 centimeters of the white splendor fell in Vienna. (has)
