US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Hungary’s Viktor Orban and Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico during his whirlwind trip to Europe. Orban and Fico are widely seen as two of the most Eurosceptic and pro-Trump leaders within the European Union. “Donald Trump has been endorsing like-minded, conservative nationalist leaders around the world,” FRANCE 24 International Affairs Editor Kethevane Gorjestani said in an analysis, noting that this departs from precedent, as US presidents usually avoid taking sides in other countries’ domestic politics.
