A major police operation is underway in the case of US presenter Savannah Guthrie’s mother, who has been missing for two weeks. Since late Friday evening (local time), more than a dozen vehicles have been seen at an address a few kilometers away from the 84-year-old’s home in Tucson, US broadcaster CNN reported. Vehicles from special units were also observed.

The police in Pima County, Arizona, confirmed an ongoing operation in connection with the case and announced a written statement on the investigation on the X platform.
According to CNN reporters, at least two forensic vehicles had also arrived and had since left the scene.
Investigators double reward for information
Most recently, the Federal Police FBI doubled the reward for information about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance to up to 100,000 US dollars (around 84,000 euros). The pensioner, who had a heart condition and was dependent on medication, was last seen on the evening of January 31st and has since disappeared without a trace. Investigators assume a kidnapping and are looking for a male suspect.
After several blackmail letters, the TV presenter Savannah Guthrie and her two siblings repeatedly addressed the largely unknown alleged kidnapper or kidnappers in video messages and also hinted at a possible ransom payment. (hkl/sda/dpa)
