On Thursday, Federal President Guy Parmelin visited the Italian patients injured in the fire in Crans-Montana VS at the Niguarda Hospital in Milan. Parmelin, who is taking part in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Milan, conveyed his greetings to the eight people still being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit and burns unit.

The Federal Department of Economics, Education and Research (WBF) confirmed a report from the Italian news agency Ansa to the Keystone-SDA news agency on Friday. The Federal President wrote on Platform
“I expressed my respect and sympathy as well as my thanks to them. “I have also reaffirmed Switzerland’s full support,” it says.
The fire disaster in Crans-Montana caused great consternation in Italy. Six of the 41 fatalities and eleven injured are Italian nationals. Criticism of the criminal investigation conducted by the Valais public prosecutor’s office was repeatedly voiced in the southern neighboring country. (sda)
