The basic salary increased only slightly to 1.90 million francs (previous year: 1.87 million). However, the remuneration from the LTPP long-term program has increased significantly. This rose from 12.5 million to 17.3 million francs. Novartis justifies the increase with the value it generated for shareholders in the period from 2023 to 2025.
Novartis is once again paying its CEO massively more than its competitor Roche. Roche boss Thomas Schinecker received a total of 10.2 million for 2025. However, the figures are only comparable to a limited extent because Roche includes blocked titles at a reduced market value in the calculation.
The entire Novartis management received total realized compensation of 113.6 million francs in 2025. This also includes compensation for members of the management who left during the year. In 2024, the management still received 75.7 million francs.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Giovanni Caforio, was re-elected to the post at the Annual General Meeting in March 2025 after the long-standing incumbent Jörg Reinhardt retired. For his first shortened year in office he received 2.9 million francs. For comparison: Reinhardt received a total of 3.8 million francs for 2024. 8.1 million were paid out to all board members together, compared to 8.6 million in the previous year. (sda/awp)
